Letter to the editor: Duke should review more student plays

To the editor:

Does The Duquesne Duke ever do critical reviews on campus plays?  Last Friday evening, I took advantage of the opportunity to see a Theater Arts' performance of Shakespeare's Measure 4 Measure. It was amusing, sexy and suspenseful, and despite the varying degrees of Shakespearean accents, the plot was easy to follow.  In fact, the production was so good I literally floated home which is the reason for my question.

I wish more would have seen it. Laura Miller was absolutely mesmerizing in her lead role and her male counterparts were just as effective. Duquesne University has stars at both the director and student-staff level, and last Friday they were shining. I am ashamed to say that the only reason I made the effort to go was because one of the actors personally invited me.  I shudder to think of what I've been missing these last few years.

Perhaps a few reviews by The Duquesne Duke would bring up the awareness level of Theater Arts on campus  and ensure that more people experience the great feeling of "floating'' home after a good night at the theater.
