It took 14 attempts, but coach Ron Everhart and his seniors Eric Evans and B.J. Monteiro finally claimed the program's first win against Richmond since the Spiders joined the Atlantic 10 in 2001. The Dukes struck gold in their 14th matchup, 81-72 in the Chuck Cooper Classic Saturday night.

Men lose to La Salle
In a back-and-forth A-10 contest, the Duquesne men's basketball team found themselves on the wrong end of a late La Salle run to drop its second straight conference matchup 71-68 at the A.J. Palumbo Center Saturday night.

Dukes lack go-to guy
They have found themselves in this position at home three times this season. Coming out on the wrong end of a back-and-forth finish against Robert Morris, losing a massive lead to St. Joe's and, most recently, being out-executed down the stretch against La Salle. The truth is the Dukes lack a closer on their roster. A type of go-to scorer who will get it done, no matter the cost, is absent from this team.

They're hard to see as Mike Talley blazes coast-to-coast to haul in an Eric Evans pass. They're even harder to glimpse as B.J. Monteiro drives hard along the baseline to deliver an acrobatic reverse layup.

New Kid on the Bluff: Sharpshooter Kadeem Pantophlet
Hailing from Holland, Kadeem Pantophlet was sold on Duquesne's program early when coach RonEverhart recruited him at Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain last year.
"[Coach Everhart] said they shoot a lot of threes and that's kind of my thing," Pantophlet said. -
